Public Library Field Trips
I am currently planning field trips for each class to visit the East Boston public library. All the field trips will take place mid-May through mid-June and will offer all students and families an opportunity to get a library card and meet the children's librarian. The hope is that students and families will continue to use the public library over the summer. If you are interested in chaperoning the field trip, please fill out the attached form along with your child's permission slip or contact me directly.
See "Library Blog" for details about Arthur Dorros's Visit.
Arthur Dorros Visit
On Monday, April 11, Arthur Dorros will be visiting our school. He will meet with each second and third grade class to discuss his books and the writing process. We have been preparing by reading many of his books and doing our own writing and research about similar topics, especially focusing on Abuela and Isla. We're all looking forward to the visit!
Arthur Dorros will be visiting in April!
I am excited to announce that Arthur Dorros will be visiting the O'Donnell School on Monday April 11, thanks to Wondermore, who is sponsoring the visit. He will specifically be visiting the second and third grade classes. Please check back for more details coming soon.
Planning an Author or Illustrator Visit!
I am working with Wondermore, who will be assisting us in bringing an author or illustrator to the O'Donnell School to supplement the library curriculum in addition to an all-around fun experience! Stay tuned for more!

Field Trips to East Boston Public Library!
Each class will be going on a field trip to the East Boston Public Library (365 Bremen St) in the end of May or early June. All students will receive a (free) library card and will be able to check out one (free) book. They will get a tour of the new library, meet the children's library, and will learn about the summer events and programs. Through these trips, I hope to connect students with other literacy programs in the community. |
MSLA Bookmark Contest
A number of classes have been designing and creating their own bookmarks to enter in the Massachusetts School Library Association Bookmark Contest. Our school can send three bookmark designs in to the contest, and entries will be judged and chosen at the MSLA Conference in early March. Good luck to all!
